Process
My design process for each project is broken down into five steps:
CREATIVE BRIEF / ESTIMATE
I like to start with what I call the CREATIVE BRIEF. I can’t create a design that represents you without your vision and your insight. After all, no one knows you better than you! We'll start by discussing your project in great detail. I'll gather the appropriate amount of information so I'll have a great understanding of your desires and expectations. Once the scope of the job is in focus, I'll draft a design estimate with a summery of what that price includes. After the design estimate has been approved and signed, we move to Phase two. On projects of a larger scale, I will request 50% of the payment be sent prior to starting on your project. The remaining 50% will be expected upon completion of the job.
CONCEPTING / DESIGN
Now this is my favorite step. It includes lots of brainstorming, sketching on paper and looking at different fonts on the computer. It also involves researching the design styles of your industry and your competitors. Sometimes great ideas come to me while I'm away from the computer. That is the great thing about creative, it strikes when it wants. After the ideas have been gathered, I'll start the design process. The sketches are transformed into final concepts to be presented to you for review.
PRESENTATION
In this step, I'll present my design concepts. I can email them to you, or we can meet in person. Sometimes a good face to face meeting can be more productive, but I realize that can't always be the case. If I send them via email, I like to discuss the design over the phone as you are viewing them. That way, you can understand my thought process and reasoning behind the concepts.
REVISIONS
After we have discussed the concepts, you may want to make changes that you feel need to be made. I normally offer two sets of revisions for every job. After the second set of revisions have been made, I will notify you that any revisions made will be charged at my hourly rate. The important thing in this step is to make sure you are happy with your designs. I will always honor your ideas and requests, but I also will provide design guidance as needed.
FINALIZE / ARTWORK DELIVERY
Once your final design is selected and approved, the second half of payment will be expected. After I receive payment, you will be sent the appropriate files if desired, as well as a receipt of purchase. Logo artwork is sent as vector EPS, PDF, PNG and JPEG formats in both color and black and white. If this is a print job I am press checking for you, I will check with the printer to estimate a delivery date.
